On July 27, 1947, under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Madras Legislative Assembly, Thiru. J. Sivasanmugam Pillai, Sri Nataraja Kalvi Kazhagam made history by bestowing the title of 'Kalaivanar' upon the legendary comedian Thiru. N. S.
